Do you wish you knew more about your Constitutional rights and freedoms?
As we approach another Presidential election, we see a lot of news about the candidates, about the “issues,” about democracy and saving our republic. We also see some pretty embarrassing man-on-the-street interviews that highlight how uneducated many Americans are about our history and the documents that undergird our hard-won rights and freedoms.
I’m certainly no Constitutional scholar. When I was in my high school history class, my mind was on boys, getting together with friends at lunch, and getting an after-school job at the mall. At least that’s the way I remember it (it was a lonnnnng time ago).
So now I’m thoroughly enjoying the free five-minute videos about the Constitution on PragerU.com, each of which gives a digestible bite of history about the document that maps out how we govern ourselves. Five minutes a day. I can watch one while I wait for my Starbucks. I can watch one while the line at the library moves forward. I can watch one while I run a bath. You get the picture. Just link to PragerU.com and search “The Constitution.” You won’t be disappointed.
It’s pretty important stuff, and once you know the basics, it’s a lot easier to recognize when smoke and mirrors are disguising reality. It’s never too late to brush up on what we should all know for our own good.
