“How precious to me are Your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them!” (Psalm 139:17) David spoke these words right after he expressed praise because he was “fearfully and wonderfully made” by God.
Paul said something similar about how we were created, and he also spoke of our purpose. “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.” (Ephesians 2:10)
We are not random masses of cells. We were each created to serve a purpose for God. So we’re always hoping to do His will in our everyday lives. Sometimes we just don’t know what that is! I think I pray for guidance more than anything else these days, on my behalf and on behalf of my loved ones. I imagine most believers do. Yes?
So God’s thoughts—so very vast—are precious to us, especially with regard to which direction He wants us, as individuals, to turn. What He wants us to decide. What He wants us to strive for in life. His thoughts are precious and an especially worthy reason for prayer at the start of every day.
